We all know that one friend who’s the life of the party, tells all the jokes, has all the wit, or the shy one who doesn’t speak much at get-togethers but listens intently to what everyone else has to say. We know the mother of dragons, the unknowing wizard, the haunted lover; but how did they become just that? How do you cultivate and create a character that stays with you for infinite time?

Build them. Dynamic characters don’t just happen, they’re crafted. You’ve got that idea for a story because the protagonist (or the villain) just keeps gnawing at your subconscious. So what do you do with that? In this course, we’ll dig into what makes a good character great, and a bad character even better. We’ll cultivate, mold, shape, and birth our character(s) with tools and techniques tried and true. Then we’ll do some writing by placing said character in our story or scene from a work in progress or a whole new world. We’ll workshop for feedback and see what’s strong and where we can make the character stronger.
