Since participating in the writing seminar led by August Thompson, I feel more confident in my composition, more experienced as an editor, and more self-assured as a writer overall. But it wasn’t just about the things I gained, but also that which I lost—the stress involved with writing, the self-doubt, the feeling of being utterly alone in my project. I have continued my writing over the last 18 months with much more confidence, intentionality, and even gusto! I am deeply grateful for the course and the many lessons, reading lists, and tools I learned in it. Objectively, I became a better writer and editor. As my skills improved, I am feeling more and more empowered to go public with my writing
Working with August was engaging and interesting. He always sent helpful, thoughtful and edifying notes and revisions. Our interactions were very productive, more like creative conversations rather than a list of indications.
